In Windows, to start off, you'll probably want to do the SystemRescueCD method and using the USB stick (it's a link in the first paragraph at the SystemRescueCD site). but I'll look in to that option too! Thanks for the responses! so technically I could just boot into Ubuntu and do a DD and it will do the same thing.
